🖤Ammonite and Orthoceras fossils are fascinating remnants of ancient marine life from different geological periods.

🖤Ammonites were marine mollusks with coiled, spiral shells. They thrived during the Mesozoic era, which includes the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, and went extinct around 66 million years ago. Their shells, often beautifully preserved in fossils, showcase intricate suture patterns that can be quite striking. Ammonites are related to modern cephalopods like octopuses and squids.

🖤Orthoceras, on the other hand, were also marine mollusks but lived much earlier, during the Paleozoic era, specifically from the Ordovician to the Triassic periods (approximately 485 to 201 million years ago). Orthoceras had long, straight, conical shells, which are quite different from the coiled shells of ammonites. These creatures are considered to be the ancestors of modern-day squids and cuttlefish.
